THE WORST MISTAKE IN LIFE: WASTING TIME

Hello Readers! Namaste, I am Vedesh and this is the first ever blog I am writing and uploading online ever in my life. I have keen interest in aspects like productivity, self improvement and practices like Stoicism. I am looking forward to uploading blogs on these topics sharing my experiences, things that I learnt throughout the journey of my life.

Now you must be thinking that why I would post something like this topic as my first blog even though there are several aspects in productivity and self improvement as a whole. This is because I wanted to start a work like this with truthfulness and with transparency and honesty. One shall be honest with his or her self. Everything related to productivity revolves around the one and only thing that is the most important and most powerful i.e. “TIME”. Even though we create tons events in our calendars, tons of items listed in To-Do lists, tons of techniques and hacks tried, but still on many days ‘being productive’ doesn’t seem to be our cup of tea. This is because we are humans and we tend to make mistakes. Therefore making amends and making INCREMENTAL IMPROVEMENTS regularly BECOMES THE MOST IMPORTANT. But even though we constantly work on improving ourselves, one mistake that we tend to make is wasting our time consciously or unconsciously. Most of the people who work on improving themselves with a goal on being more productive and to achieve what they want in life and become the person they want to be and the world needs them to be make these mistakes which I call ATOMIC MISTAKES, mistakes that might seem so tiny and the once that go unnoticed yet make so big impact in important aspects in our life. These mistakes are the mistakes that set the successful people from the ones that are unsuccessful, stuck and stagnant.

But rather more alarming thing with our behavior is that we tend to waste a lot of time unconsciously without knowing that we are actually wasting a ton of our precious time. This is where books like Digital Minimalism, Deep Work, Hyperfocus, Atomic Habits, Eat that frog, Getting Things Done and practices like mindfulness, meditation; sleep hygiene and regular exercise will help you. Working deliberately could change a lot of things for us and boost up our productivity. As Chris Bailey in his book The Productivity Project wrote – “The most productive people are the ones who work deliberately—and there is no better way to work deliberately than developing and defending a strong attention muscle.” He also states in his book – “It’s in this moment-to-moment deliberateness—where we step back from our work not just in general, but in the moment—that the heart of Productivity lies.” So managing your mind becomes very important practice to efficiently manage your time. Also managing your energy and attention becomes very important to manage you time and work and produce the best. Therefore we shall never waste our time consciously and unconsciously because –

Time is free, but it's priceless.

You can't own it, but you can use it.

You can't keep it, but you can spend it.

Once you've lost it you can never get it back.

YOU KNOW THAT YOU HAVE 86400 SECONDS EVERY DAY SO USE THEM WISELY

“WASTE YOUR TIME! YOU SHOULD NEVER, AS TIME ONCE GONE, IS GONE FOREVER”
